Responsibilities:

Under direct supervision of the Accounting Manager, with specific instructions on routine or semi-routine work and established work parameters for the unit, the Senior Accountant will have responsibilities for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, including reconciliation of all accounts in a busy, high performing Finance Office.? Senior Accountant will also support day-to-day processing of transactions by processing payroll, billings, American Express reports, and employee expense reimbursements.

  • Maintain required records, reports, and files in an organized manner.
  • May assist in analysis and interpretation of accounting records for use by management.
  • ?Perform professional work requiring knowledge of general accounting principles and practices and the basic application and use of concepts, theories, and terminology of accounting.
  • Resolve a diverse range of problems consistent with an understanding of mission and vision, role and goals of the business.
  • Provide professional, prompt and courteous service to vendors and staff during resolution of financial issues.?
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements to the general ledger
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of accounts receivable and accounts payable to subsidiary detail on an accurate and timely basis. Follow up with staff and customers on past due receivables.
  • Maintain and reconcile all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
  • Perform General Ledger adjustments and reclassifications.
  • Prepare monthly CWV invoice for reimbursable expenses due SOS
  • ?File State Charitable Solicitation Registrations with outside vendor
  • Responsible for all aspects of the month-end close, including allocation of expenses, reconciliation of accounts, general ledger adjustments, and preparation of financial statements.
  • Serve as Accounts Payable Back-up
  • Assist with annual audit
  • In coordination with Human Resources, update payroll records within the ADP system and track changes in employee data.
  • Ensure timely addition/deletion of employee deductions and other adjustments to employee pay.
  • Prepare timely and accurate payroll for 3 entities on a semi-monthly basis using ADP online processing system.
  • In coordination with Human Resources, review payroll reports for accuracy prior to posting.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries in a timely fashion.
  • Suggest improvements to payroll procedures to the Manager, Accounting
  • Operate with the strictest confidentiality, ensuring payroll reports, conversations and other information are managed with care.
  • In coordination with the Donor Operations team, prepare, record, and process invoices for operating, program and grants related to sales/sponsorships.
  • Ensure cash receipts for billings are properly posted in Raisers Edge and Financial Edge.
  • On a monthly basis, review American Express invoices and match to employee? reports.
  • Review reports for accuracy and completeness, including necessary receipts in accordance with policy.
  • Enter all American Express expenses in Financial Edge and process payment to American Express in a timely fashion.
  • On a monthly basis, review expense reimbursement requests, including necessary receipts in accordance with policy.
  • Enter expenses in Financial Edge and process payments for employees.

Qualifications:????????????????

  • Bachelor?s degree in accounting or equivalent education/experience.
  • ?At least five-years of previous accounting experience. ?At least three years nonprofit experience required.
  • At least three-years of full-cycle payroll experience.
  • At least two years? experience using accounting software (Great Plains or Financial Edge preferred).
  • Experience with ADP or similar online payroll processing system.
  • Experience reconciling high-volume, complex accounts in a timely and accurate manner.
  • ?Excellent interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills.
  • Ability to work well intra- and inter-departmentally and to be a team player.
  • Skilled at prioritizing work and working well under pressure.
  • Possess strong quantitative skills.
  • Must be extremely well organized and able to manage time effectively.
  • Demonstrate honest and sincere character.
  • ?Enthusiastic and will naturally embrace the organizations mission.
