HONG KONG ??The international sales and marketing arm of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co launched its expanded online store to include affordable investment packages for over 10 million overseas Filipino workers and their families back home.
?PLDT?s online store is the first comprehensive eCommerce portal of the PLDT group of companies that caters to Filipinos abroad. It was recently renamed Smart Pinoy Store to make its products and services available not only to consumers but to dealers and retailers as well. I am happy to announce that franchising of various Filipino firms will also soon be available in the Smart Pinoy Store,? Alejandro O. Caeg, president of PLDT Global Corp said.
?Apart from making it possible for our OFWs to virtually participate in the activities of their families in the Philippines, the Smart Pinoy Store also enables them to plan their children?s education, make investments or engage in business, and purchase products with good value and on installment basis. The negosyo packages may be availed on installment, so payment terms are light on the OFW?s pocket,? Caeg said.
He said Smart Pinoy Store is also the fastest and easiest way for Filipinos abroad to send gifts to their families in the Philippines anytime without worrying about delivery delays.
Through the online store, OFWs can buy goods, services, educational plans, pangkabuhayan packages, and cell phone load for friends and family back home. It also allows them to pay their utility bills, such as those of PLDT and Smart, and soon Meralco, Maynilad and other service companies as well.
To buy from the online store, OFWs simply have to access any of the distribution channels, such as PLDT Global?s website, chain accounts, and agents of dealers. They then choose from a range of available products and services viewed online, which include gift items, telecommunications products, educational/financial/medical services, and utilities, and pay for their selected product or service, using cash, credit card or Smart Money. PLDT?s merchant partners deliver the goods or fulfill the transaction in the Philippines after confirming the payment.
PLDT Global plans to expand its Mobile Virtual Network Operation (MVNO) in the Middle East, Europe, North America, Japan and Africa over the next 12 to 18 months.
The company offers MVNO services in Hong Kong, Singapore, Guam, Macau, Malaysia and Taiwan, primarily for OFWs. It has a total of 250,000 subscribers.
